Our guidance mission and our values

33% of students regret their study choices. And 80% of high school students say they feel “very anxious” about their future. All because of a complex range of options, and a lack of information about themselves.

PrePeers exists to change that. Here is how.

PrePeers' mission on video
Our mission, on videoWhy PrePeers exists, and what we want to change in study and career guidance.

What is PrePeers for?

Choosing your future is hard when you don't really know yourself.

That's why we created a new way to find your path: guidance that starts with a better understanding of yourself. With its artificial intelligence Lola, PrePeers helps young people discover their personality, their motivations, their strengths and the environments where they can truly thrive.

We then turn that understanding into recommendations for careers, studies and programs suited to who they really are… and we connect you directly with the schools and companies that match you.

More than a guidance platform, or a simple "chatbot", PrePeers offers a self-discovery experience applied to your academic and professional future. Because before choosing a school, the most important thing may be to understand who you really are.

Our purpose

Every year in France, hundreds of thousands of high school students make a choice that will shape their working life — often in a few weeks, under pressure, with nothing more than a directory, a list of schools and, sometimes, their parents' opinion. The same dizziness affects students who are considering studying outside their own country, with even fewer landmarks about what exists and what really suits them.

It's a self-knowledge problem: nobody helped you understand who you are before asking you what you want to do.

PrePeers is here to reverse that order.

What we do, and how

Lola, our AI, starts by asking you questions about yourself. She finds your strengths, what bores you, what excites you. She builds your profile over your conversations, explores your personality, identifies your areas of genius, and only then recommends the paths that truly match who you are.

You then get 3 to 5 relevant opportunities, explained and easy to compare.

Because good guidance isn't about finding a path. It's about finding yours.

Mission-driven company

Mission-driven company: what it changes in practice

PrePeers is a mission-driven company (société à mission) under France's 2019 PACTE law. It's not a marketing label. It's a long-term, legally binding commitment, written into our articles of association, whose execution is verified by an independent third-party body.

Our statutory purpose:

“To take on one of the major challenges of a deeply changing society: making support accessible to all secondary and higher education students so they succeed in their academic and professional paths, by creating a supportive and unifying ecosystem driven by innovative technological solutions.”

Article 3.2 of our articles of association. In plain words: helping every student, in high school as in higher education, succeed in their studies and in entering working life, with accessible technological tools.

Our four statutory objectives:

  • Innovation: developing technological solutions accessible to as many people as possible.
  • Emulation: developing an ecosystem of partners from the non-profit, business and education worlds.
  • Solidarity: promoting the Company's commitment policy.
  • Efficiency: regularly assessing whether these objectives are met, with a view to constantly improving their social impact.

In practice, this means three things:

Access to the personality profile, school recommendations and career sheets will never depend on a subscription or a payment. Not today, not in 5 years. It's a commitment we make publicly, and it comes directly from our statutory objective of accessibility.

Schools and companies pay PrePeers to reach the students who match them. However, they cannot buy a better place in your recommendations. The score Lola gives you is calculated independently of any commercial contract. This rule comes directly from our purpose, and compliance with our mission is checked.

Lola may recommend a school that isn't a partner, if it really is the best one for you — a commercial relationship with a school never goes into the calculation of your recommendation. How Lola decides →

We don't sell your data. Not to a school, not to an advertiser, not to a broker. Institutions pay a subscription to use the tool — never to buy what you share with Lola.

Nothing is shared without your consent, and your consent is split: being connected, your personality profile and your school reports are three separate permissions. You can accept the first and refuse the other two.

You can change your mind at any time: see what we have about you, correct it, withdraw a permission, exclude a specific institution, or delete your account — your data is then erased within 30 days.

People often talk about “owning” their data. Legally, that doesn't exist. What you have are rights — and that's better: ownership can be given away. Rights can't.

Your profile can be noticed. At the end of your conversation with Lola, a screen shows you your project, your criteria and the named institutions that match you. You then decide line by line, nothing is ticked in advance: being connected, allowing a phone contact, showing your personality profile, your school reports, being contacted by companies. Your personality profile is optional: you are connected even if you refuse. You can go back on each choice at any time. Details in “How Lola decides” →

When an institution activates your profile, your identity becomes visible to it, and we let you know every time it happens.

PrePeers never shares your identifiable information with a school or a company unless you have, beforehand and explicitly, chosen to make your profile visible.

Protection is reinforced: only partners verified by PrePeers can reach out to you, and direct contact is regulated.

Our mission committee

As a mission-driven company, we must have a body in charge of monitoring how our mission is carried out and reporting on it every year.

Under article 23 of our articles of association, the mission committee brings together the Company's President and three to five members, including, as a requirement:

  • An employee representative
  • A representative of the non-profit sector
  • A corporate officer

As long as the company has fewer than fifty permanent employees, our articles of association allow this committee to be replaced by a mission referent.

The impact we commit to measuring

Because a mission without figures is just an intention, here is what we already track and what we commit to tracking:

  • Student satisfaction rate6 months after enrolling in a school recommended by Lola
  • Reorientation rateHow many students who used PrePeers change paths within 2 years.Goal: reduce it by 50% vs the national average
  • AccessibilityShare of users from rural areas or from REP/REP+ schools (French priority education networks)
  • Zero data sharing without active consentChecked internally

Why and how can a mission-driven company also be profitable?

We sometimes get asked. The answer is simple: trust is our main commercial asset.

If Lola recommends schools that don't match your profile, or if her advice is biased, you won't trust her anymore. If PrePeers sells data behind your back, you'll stop using the platform. If the scores are rigged, our partners will notice and leave.

Our mission isn't at odds with our business model, it is its very condition. Our model is one of transparency. And that's what makes it new.

A well-guided student stays enrolled in their school. A school that receives truly compatible applicants renews its subscription. Everyone wins when guidance is honest.

That's what a mission-driven company that works looks like.

What we want to build

  1. In 3 years

Our ambition is for PrePeers to be the natural step in the guidance journey of every French-speaking or international high school student — not because we'll have spent the most on advertising, but because we'll have been the most useful.

  2. In 5 years

For a student's PrePeers profile to be recognised as a reference document — by high schools, in admission files, in interviews, in skills assessments.

  3. In 10 years

For the rate of regret after study choices, in France and elsewhere, to have dropped significantly. And for PrePeers to have contributed to it.

Our values

These aren't words on a wall. They are the criteria we use to make every decision.

We could have built a model where Lola always shows you 20 results instead of 3, to keep you on the platform longer. We didn't.

We could have sold “featured spots” to schools. We don't.

When the truth is less profitable than comfort in the short term, we choose the truth. Because it's the only way to build something that lasts.

Most guidance platforms show you every school, and especially the ones that pay the most.

We start by asking you who you are.

It's not a philosophical stance, it's a conviction rooted in data: students who choose the wrong path didn't lack information about schools. They lacked information about themselves. That's the problem we solve first.

25,000 programs available. A high school student needs to see 3, the right ones.

Every time we add a feature, we ask ourselves: does it help the student decide, or does it just give the impression that we're working hard? If it's the second answer, we don't do it.

Simplicity isn't laziness. It's respect for the time and mental energy of someone who is already stressed.

Lola recommends. She doesn't decide.

Your profile belongs to you. The decision to make it visible to partner schools and companies is yours, just like the decision to answer or not those who contact you. The final choice is yours. Lola isn't there to tell you what to do, she's there to help you see more clearly so you can decide for yourself.

We will never believe that an algorithm, however accurate, can know your future better than you.

Quality guidance shouldn't be reserved for families who can pay for a coach. Or for high school students in big cities. Or for those whose parents work in higher education. Or for those who are considering studying far from home, with no one to guide them through a system they don't know.

That's why Lola is free, forever. That's why we measure the share of users from rural areas and from REP/REP+ schools. And that's why this figure appears in our annual mission report, because if we weren't careful, we might forget it.

We tell you exactly how Lola calculates her scores. We tell you how we make money. We tell you when we don't know yet.

If something changes in our model — data, algorithms, partnerships — we tell you before you hear it elsewhere. That's real transparency.
