How does Lola decide?
PrePeers recommends schools and careers for you.
You deserve to know exactly how and why.
Lola is an artificial intelligence. You are talking to an AI, not a human advisor.
Lola is methodical.
Lola does not pull her recommendations out of a hat. She analyzes what you tell her, compares it with the features of each program (location, format, cost, requirements) and calculates a compatibility score for each school or career.

The three steps of her reasoning
- Your personality: your values, how you work, what you see as your strengths, what motivates or bores you
- Your concrete preferences: desired city, pace (work-study or full-time), budget, length of studies
- Your red lines: what you categorically refuse (500-seat lecture halls, 100% theory, too far from home…)
- Your fears: fear of choosing the wrong path, getting into debt, being bored
- Your ambitions: the careers that attract you, the sectors that excite you
Your profile is never set in stone: it keeps getting more precise with every conversation, across 4 dimensions, and shows a self-knowledge score. It is not there to pressure you: the more Lola knows, the more accurate her suggestions. As you chat, she also suggests a personality type inspired by the MBTI: a reference point to help you reflect, not a diagnosis.
If you choose to share them, Lola can also take your school reports into account, marginally and never to judge your level. You make this choice at the end of your conversation, at the same time as your other permissions, and you can refuse it separately. If you tell her about your health, a disability or your family situation, she does not take it into account and this information is deleted.
It breaks down into 4 criteria, which you can see by clicking "Why this score?":
- Geography: is the school in a city you mentioned?
- Teaching approach: does the format match how you learn (projects, classes, work-study)?
- Budget: are the tuition fees compatible with what you told us?
- Profile: do your interests, the way you work and your project match what this path requires?
Each criterion is weighted according to what you set as a priority. If you told us geography was your number one criterion, it counts more in the calculation.
And it is never a black box: each recommendation is linked to a specific sentence you said to Lola. You can always see exactly which sentence raised which score, and tell her if she got it wrong.
See the ranking parameters in detailLola has access to more than 25,000 programs in France and abroad. She does not show you all of them, but suggests 3 to 5 truly relevant options.
Why this choice? Because a list of 200 results does not help you decide. It paralyzes you. Our belief is that good guidance relies on fewer choices, better explained.

Ranking parameters
These rules apply to all of Lola's recommendations (programs, schools, careers). Each program gets a compatibility score out of 100, combining four criteria: geography, teaching approach, budget and your profile.
The exact default weighting of these criteria will be published here as soon as it is finalized.
When you say a criterion is a priority for you, its weight increases. Your red lines work as filters: a program that includes one of them is not recommended.
PrePeers is free for you. We are paid by partner institutions, which pay to be able to contact students who have agreed to it. They never pay to appear in your results or to be ranked higher. PrePeers partners are not prioritized in the ranking.
Institutions: the same method applies to every program, partner or not. The only lever is the accuracy of the information on your page (campuses, formats, fees, requirements). Your Personae settings have no effect on the ranking.

What Lola does not do
The institutions that appear in your results have not bought their place. The compatibility score is calculated by an algorithm independent of PrePeers' commercial model. An institution that is not a PrePeers partner can appear in your results if it matches your profile. A partner institution that does not match your profile will not appear.
The settings institutions make on PrePeers only serve to show which profiles they would like to meet. They change neither your score nor the order of your results.
Nor does Lola judge your academic level or your abilities. She never tells you whether you are "capable" of following a program: she helps you see what suits you.
That is our red line. We do not cross it, because if Lola recommends paths that do not suit you, she loses all usefulness. And PrePeers goes down with her.
This rule comes directly from our purpose, written into our articles of association, and compliance with our mission is checked every year: our values and commitments.
Who can contact you, and how you stay in control
There are three ways a contact can start on PrePeers, with educational institutions and, if you agree, with companies recruiting for work-study placements or internships. In every case, you have the final say.
You contact whoever you want, whenever you want
You can contact a school directly from its page at any time: ask a question, ask to be called back, chat with a student who is already there. You decide, institution by institution, who you reach out to.
Only if you agreed — and only to what you agreed to
At the end of your conversation with Lola, a screen shows you what you defined together: your project, your criteria, and the named institutions that match. That is when we ask for your consent — not at sign-up. As long as you have not told Lola anything, there is nothing to show you and nothing to decide.
You decide line by line, and nothing is ticked in advance:
- being put in touch with these institutions;
- allowing them to contact you by phone — optional;
- letting them see your personality profile — optional: you are put in touch even if you refuse;
- letting them see your school reports — optional too;
- being contacted by companies for a work-study placement or an internship — this is a separate choice, they are recruiters, not schools.
When an institution activates your profile, your identity becomes visible to it and you get a notification, with the option to withdraw your consent for that institution alone, in one click. You also choose how it can reach you.
You receive a dated summary of your choices by email, and you can change any of them at any time.
If you refuse all permissions, you keep using Lola as normal.
Lola can get back to you
Lola can contact you again by email, and by WhatsApp if you agreed, to pick up your conversation or send you your results. You can stop at any time, from your account or from the link in every message.
These choices are never final: you can change each of them at any time from your account, either way.
Your rights over your data
You have the right to:
- View all the data Lola has collected about you (from your profile, "My data" tab)
- Correct inaccurate information
- Withdraw each of your consents separately: being put in touch, calls, personality profile, school reports, contact by companies, emails, WhatsApp
- Exclude a specific institution, even before it has contacted you
- Withdraw your consent from an institution that has already activated your profile
- Delete your account at any time from your account: your data is erased within 30 days

Why are we telling you all this?
Because Lola asks you about what really matters to you: your fears, your ambitions, how you are. That is not trivial. You deserve to know exactly what we do with it.
And because we believe trust is built by showing how things work.
