Introduction
It sometimes happens that collective agreements require specific rules to be followed when setting up professional health insurance.
Employers must then comply with certain obligations in terms of financial contribution, reimbursement levels, and conditions for employee enrollment. This is the case for health insurance for training organizations, which imposes more protective guarantees compared to legislation for healthcare expenses. Here are some explanations.
Health insurance for training organizations: which companies are concerned?

The role of training organizations is to manage continuing professional training for employees and people during periods of unemployment. Since 1988, they have had a collective agreement (CCN) dedicated to them.
The health insurance for the CCN for training organizations applies to companies whose revenue comes primarily from their training activities.
Indeed, certain activities do not fall within the scope of the CCN. This is the case for:
- Training organizations for apprentices;
- training associations founded by professional or interprofessional employer organizations;
- training centers managed by a company that is also their client.
Is company health insurance mandatory for training organizations?
Since the ANI law came into force in 2016, company health insurance is required for training organizations as for other companies. Enrollment is moreover equally mandatory for employees. It remains optional for dependents, however.
Cases of exemption from health insurance are not listed in the collective agreement for health insurance of training organizations. They are therefore those defined by law.
An exemption is thus possible if:
- The employee is a beneficiary of complementary health insurance for the poor;
- they are an apprentice, part-time (under certain conditions), or on a fixed-term contract;
- they already benefit from individual health insurance or collective health insurance (through their spouse, for example);
- they work for multiple companies: in this case, they can choose the most advantageous one and request an exemption for the other;
- they were employed by the company when the professional health insurance was set up (health insurance established by unilateral employer decision with employee financial contribution).
The exemption request must be sent to the employer accompanied by all supporting documents proving their situation.
How to choose health insurance well for a training organization?
The first thing to do is to verify that the health insurance complies with the guarantee level required by the collective agreement for training organizations. The latter moreover recommends several insurers such as Malakoff Humanis.
Several comparison criteria can help you make the right choice:
- Guarantees;
- rates;
- simplicity of the management system;
- support and associated services;
- member reviews.
Don't hesitate to use an online health insurance comparison tool. By filling out a dedicated form, you will have access to the list of offers that comply with your collective agreement and best match your expectations.
What is the cost of health insurance for a training organization?
The price of such health insurance varies depending on the offer and the basis chosen. It starts at 25 € and can go up to 200 € per month.
This is an estimate since several criteria must be taken into account:
- The location of the company;
- the level of guarantees;
- the average age of employees;
- the contribution basis (individual, family, couple, etc.).
Insurers are completely free to set their prices, and these can be reassessed each year.
The employer must mandatorily pay a contribution of 50% to finance their employees' health insurance.
This can be higher if they wish, even if this is not mentioned in the collective agreement. Note that this contribution will be exempt from social contributions and deductible from the company's taxable income.
